Collaborative and Contextual Practices

18: Further Reflection on March 9th and Sounding Off.

As promised, this final blog will be a reflection on how I feel the realisation of my project went, the workshop on March 9th. It will also include some feedback that I received from Rob. This will be the final blog. I will then write my critical evaluation. Therefore, this blog will not be too…

17: Evaluation in Context 3.

As I mentioned in blogs #6 and #8, the final two steps in the evaluation methodology are to be considered following the evaluation. This blog will set about doing this. Obviously, the outcomes are different as expected and this makes this more difficult than originally planned. Step Plan Set standards and collect evidence. I set…

15: Presentation.

Due to the University stopping face-to-face lectures etc, the presentation on 20/03/2020 will no longer be going ahead. To view the presentation and the script, please follow these links. 14: Workshop Cancellation.

Today I have been informed by Rob that PMZ are suspending all sessions for a month. This means that the collaborative workshop on March 27th will not go ahead. I will now set about discussing what my next steps are with my tutor and evaluate the workshop on March 9th in more detail.

13: Next steps.

The next steps for myself and Rob are to continue planning the session as if it will go ahead on March 27th. We have since received confirmation that school will not be attending. As of now, the Highbury Trust are still coming. Rob has a workshop with them today and will be doing the main…

12: Reflecting on March 9th.

As the session on March 9th may be the end realisation of this project, I feel a short reflection and evaluation is necessary. If the workshop on March 27th is cancelled, then a longer reflection and evaluation will be uploaded. I will be focusing on the original aspects of the plan which are as follows;…

11: Coronavirus Disaster.

On 09/03/2020 I had my third meeting with Rob in which we were going to discuss everything we have decided so far and finalise any other collaborations that we needed to make. I was also going to trial the main activity that evening within the Baton Beats session. However, the whole project became compromised due…

10: Safeguarding.

Since the workshop means that I will be working with children and vulnerable adults, I feel it is necessary to familiarise myself with the basics of safeguarding for both adults and children. I am already safeguarding trained as I undertook a training day last year within my job back home. My role is a play…

9: Main Activity.

Rob emailed with some feedback regarding my plan for the main activity. As you can see from the email below, he thought it was good idea but believed some of the actions are too complex for the participants to carry out. Therefore, I had to have a rethink and have edited the plan slightly. The…

8: Evaluation in Context 2.

Rob approved my evaluation plans, therefore I was able to fill out the ethics form. To do this, I had to place my evaluation ideas into the context of evaluation methodology. I did this by embracing the literature mentioned in blog #6. Please refer back to this blog. Below is a table outlining how I…

7: Coming Together.

On the 24/02/2020 I had my second meeting with Rob in which we feel that we have really moved forward in the planning of this collaboration. I reflected on the warm ups and decided that I felt the live sound tracking idea would be the most suitable. I felt this way because it naturally incorporated…

6: Evaluation in Context.

Once considering that I wish to evaluate the Creative School pupils, I decided it would be useful to research into evaluation methodology. The University of Idaho have published a document on evaluation methodology and so I have used this to further my understanding and will employ this into my decision making processes. I feel it…

5: Warm Up, Cool Down and Evaluation.

Myself and Rob have been in discussion over email about suitable warm up and cool down exercises for the workshop. The email chain is too large to include within this blog so I will sum it up. Rob gave me feedback on the warm ups I had suggested. He thought that we should try and…

4: Initial Ideas For the Warm Up and Cool Down.

Following my meeting with Rob, I have been thinking about suitable warm up and cool down exercises for the workshop. I have had to be mindful that some of the participants are non-verbal and have limited mobility, therefore I have had to ensure that any ideas I put forward are inclusive. Initially, I discovered two…

3: First Meeting With Rob.

On 10/02/2020 I met with Rob to discuss the session. I wanted to learn more about the two groups, what they had done in the previous sessions and what their main goal was. Rob explained how the Highbury group are diverse with some non-verbal members and wheelchair users. I felt this was important to know…

2: Making Contact With My Collaborator.

I reached out to Rob asking if he would be happy to collaborate with me. Below are the string of emails that were sent to one another regarding this. I was over the moon when Rob confirmed that he would like to collaborate with me! After the final email, I went to PMZ and myself…

1: Introduction and Initial Ideas.

This blog will present the progress of a collaborative project that I will be conducting as part of my MUS634 module at University. The project requires me to partake in Collaborative and Contextual practices. This means that I have to collaborate with somebody outside of the music degree on a project and consider where the…
